Scam warning
Licence scam warning to drivers in Lincolnshire
Drivers in Lincolnshire are being warned of an internet scam operating in the county.
Officers say fraudsters are sending e-mails asking people to verify their driving licence details with the DVLA.
Recipients are told they will have their driving licence withdrawn if the message is not responded to within two weeks.
Officers are urging people to delete the emails and not to open any attachments.
Sgt Ian Jarman, head of Lincolnshire Police's Economic Crime Unit said: "It is important that people realise that not all e-mails are genuine, despite seeming to originate from legitimate organisations.
"Please be constantly vigilant against fraudsters abusing the internet and using e-mails in an attempt to gain your personal details to commit fraud."
